Answering the Five W’s and an H About MAVCC
MAVCC is the Multistate Academic and Vocational Curriculum Consortium,
a non-profit organization consisting of seven member states: Arkansas,
Georgia, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas.
Our
mission is to effectively and efficiently coordinate, develop, and
disseminate mutually needed, competency-based instructional materials
reflecting quality standards. Through the years,
MAVCC products have received numerous national awards from the
Vocational Instructional Materials (VIM) Section of ACTE.
MAVCC was founded in September 1974.
MAVCC is located in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the Oklahoma Department
of Career and Technology Education, which serves as its administering
agency.
The
organization was formed by state representatives to produce
instructional materials that a single state could not afford to
produce and to disseminate these materials at a minimum cost to both
instructors and students.
Each member state pays $20,000 annually to support development
projects. In addition, revenue generated from product sales is used
to help cover the costs of developing, printing/replicating,
marketing, and disseminating MAVCC materials.
