MAVCC realizes that instructors have limited
budgets to purchase instructional materials, therefore we are
striving to provide our instructional materials in electronic
teacher formats to reduce your cost. We will continue to provide
quality teacher and student editions in print format for a variety
of career and technical education programs.
The electronic formats contain PowerPoint
presentations, and customizable components, such as written tests
and competency profiles. The electronic formats also contain
interactive tests that students can complete on the computer for
practice and/or assessment, providing the student with immediate
feedback, and providing instructors with test scores as well as data
on what objectives or areas need to be reviewed.
Site licenses
are also available for school programs/instructors wishing to
incorporate instructional materials into their lessons on
Blackboard® or other means, so students can access coursework from a
computer. |

MAX Teaching in Action: Classroom Demonstrations
of Reading and Writing Activities That Help Students Learn New
Subject Matter While Acquiring Literacy Skills
By Dr. Mark Forget
These DVDs are actual classroom footage of MAX
Teaching in action, filmed with real students and real teachers.
Reading and writing activities are demonstrated in brief 10-15
minute vignettes in classrooms varying from 12th grade
career-technical classes to elementary science and social
studies classes.
The focus of each vignette is on two things: 1)
what the teacher does to facilitate students of varying ability
levels to achieve higher-order thinking about subject matter
resulting from their reading and writing activities, and 2) how
students behave when they are scaffolded to success with
reading, writing, and thinking.

HVACR Electrical Systems
HVACR Electrical Systems has been updated for 2008,
and a new unit on electronically commutated motors has been added.
Problems challenge students to draw pictorials, build and verify
working circuits on trainers, and create ladder schematics.
Troubleshooting HVACR System Electrical Circuits introduces the
student to hopscotching and other proven troubleshooting procedures
used by the pros. HVACR System Wiring Diagrams concludes this text
with materials that require students to apply their circuit building
skills to small refrigeration units, window air conditioners,
furnaces, and other HVACR systems.
